Falcon Wing door Emergency release

IThe Falcon Wing door emergency release is a hidden cable behind the speaker grille. You must pull the grille off before you can access the cable. This is very difficult unless the rear seat occupant is familiar with it and has practiced it.

I decided to make the emergency opening function easier by installing a pull ring extension.

Purchased cable and rings and crimper. Then prepared a pull ring cable.

Crimped cable to existing pull cable and then final result.

Still after poppin the latch a considerable push effort is needed to open the door.

Turn Signal and Gear Shift Stalks

IThe cost saving measure of eliminating stalks from the "refresh" models was annoying to me. Trying to signal out of a roundabout was especially a challenge.

The clever Chinese have now a solution. I bought the retrofit stalks and installed them. They look original and work as advertised.

I removed the center bolt using air impact wrench. Wiring was plug and play after fishing harness from under large screen to steering column area.

Door Safety Lights

The refresh Model X does not have lighted door safety lights. I found these neat practical ones on Temu.com
They come nicely packaged in a box complete with CR2032 battery and magnet and sticky double side tape patches. The magnet when mounted at it's proper place on the body frame will turn off the light when door is closed.

Best part is the cost - CAD$ 6.20 including  HST and shipping via Express Post with tracking number.

S3XY Buttons

Installed the S3XY Buttons. Mainly to get the horn function on the centre of the steering Yoke.

The items were well packaged and even came with a plastic prying tool.

The "Commander" module attaches via supplied adapter cable to the OBD port under a cover below the screen.. Buttons have a multitude of programming options via the phone App. I programmed one of the butttons for a long horn blast, another one for mirror tilt and another one to open the glove box. Still deciding what to program the 4th button function. Button batteries last between 1.5 and 2 years and the common CR2032 cells are easily replaced.

Also the installation can be quickly reversed to OEM specs in case vehicle is in service for warranty.

Front Mud Flaps

Had some cement splatter on door panels. Semi difficult to remove. So, decided to install genuine Tesla mud flaps

Windshield Pan Drain Extension

Noticed that the drain from the pan under the windshield dumps directly onto heat pump, A/C cables. and electrical cables and connectors. According to Tesla Service that is the way it is designed. No worry for them. Probably any corrosion damage from our Ontario winter salt water and harsh car wash chemicals will show up after warranty expires.

Alleviated  the potential drainage problem by attaching hose which directs any water to the bottom pan.

I used 28 inches of sump pump flexible drain hose for a near perfect fit. Also used a stainless gear clamp to hold it tight.
